American Tattoo Society Soft Opens New Off-Base Flagship Near Fort Bliss, Continuing a Historic Legacy of Tattooing the Military

EL PASO, TXAmerican Tattoo Society, one of the highest-rated tattoo studios in the United States and a trusted name within military communities nationwide, has officially soft-opened its newest flagship location just outside Fort Bliss.

The move marks a significant milestone for the company, which previously operated the first licensed tattoo studio ever approved on an active U.S. Army base. After helping shape tattoo regulations for service members and operating successfully on base, American Tattoo Society has now transitioned off base to expand services and accommodate a broader client base while continuing to serve one of the nation’s largest military communities.

The new 6,240-square-foot studio is the largest American Tattoo Society location to date and features 10 tattoo stations, availability for walk-ins and appointments, and a growing roster of professional artists. Tattooing services are currently available, with piercing services launching soon and laser tattoo removal planned for late 2026.

Artists Jnyr, William, and Gabriel have openings and are currently booking appointments at the Ft Bliss location, with additional artists joining in the coming months to increase availability for service members, veterans, and the greater El Paso community.

Founded in Fayetteville, North Carolina—home to the largest military population in the country—American Tattoo Society is widely recognized for helping craft modern tattoo policies for the U.S. military, which included compliance with AR 670-1. While the studio continues to serve active-duty personnel proudly, the new off-base location allows expanded creative freedom for veterans and civilians seeking tattoos beyond military regulation standards.

“This move represents the next chapter for us,” said Ryan Harrell, co-founder of American Tattoo Society. “We were proud to be the first licensed tattoo studio on an Army base, and now being off base allows us to expand services, welcome a wider audience, and offer tattooing outside of AR 670-1 for those who are civilians, or are no longer on active duty. We’re excited about what’s coming next for Fort Bliss and the El Paso community.”

The Ft. Bliss studio is managed by Priscilla, an El Paso native who brings local roots and leadership to the location.

“Having this studio open in my hometown is incredibly meaningful,” said Priscilla, Studio Manager. “El Paso has a strong military culture and an incredible community. We’re excited to offer a professional, welcoming space that reflects both the pride of this city and the standards American Tattoo Society is known for.”

The American Tattoo Society is also planning a grand opening event in the near future, featuring appearances by former contestants from the television series Ink Master. Additional details, including dates and participating artists, will be announced soon.

The Ft. Bliss location is now open and accepting walk-ins and appointments. Community members are encouraged to visit the studio, reach out via direct message on social media, or call the studio directly for booking information.
