American Tattoo Society Relocates Ft. Drum Studio Off Base, Expanding Services for the Military Community in Northern New York

WATERTOWN, NYAmerican Tattoo Society, one of the highest-rated tattoo studios in the United States and a nationally recognized leader in military-focused tattooing, has officially relocated its Ft. Drum studio off base, continuing the company’s strategic expansion while maintaining its commitment to service members, veterans, and their families.

The Ft. Drum relocation follows American Tattoo Society’s history-making role as the first licensed tattoo studio ever approved on a U.S. Army base, a milestone that helped shape modern tattoo access and regulations for active-duty service members. With the move off base, the Ft Drum studio is now positioned to expand services, increase availability, and serve both military and civilian clients in the greater North Country region.

The off-base location offers a professional, clean, and welcoming environment consistent with American Tattoo Society’s national standards. The studio accepts walk-ins and appointments, features experienced professional artists, and is designed to support future service expansions as the location continues to grow.

Founded in Fayetteville, North Carolina, home to the largest military population in the country, American Tattoo Society is widely known for helping craft tattoo policies for the U.S. military, including compliance with AR 670-1. While the studio continues to serve active-duty personnel stationed at Fort Drum, the off-base relocation allows greater flexibility for veterans and civilians seeking tattoos beyond military regulation standards.

“Ft. Drum has always been an important community for us,” said Ryan Harrell, co-founder of American Tattoo Society. “We’re proud of our history of operating on base and helping pave the way for tattooing in the military. Moving off base allows us to expand services, improve accessibility, and continue delivering the premium experience our clients expect—while still staying deeply connected to the Fort Drum community.”

American Tattoo Society plans to host a grand opening celebration in the coming months, welcoming the local community and service members alike. The event will include special guests, expanded artist availability, and appearances by former contestants from the television series Ink Master. Additional details will be announced as the event approaches.

The Ft. Drum studio is now open at its new off-base location and is currently accepting walk-ins and appointments. Community members are encouraged to visit the studio, reach out via direct message on social media, or call the studio directly for booking information.
